Chrome Dreams II

Uscito lo scorso 5 ottobre, Chrome Dreams II è il seguito di un misterioso, vecchio progetto (poi accantonato) del 1977.  E' un gran bel disco questo, non v'è dubbio: elettrico ed acustico quanto basta, non ha la forza evocativa di Harvest o After The Gold Rush, ma suona da Dio in ogni sua traccia. Nello Iovine è in grandissima forma, ha il coraggio di proporre anche un brano (epico) che dura 18 minuti, più una serie di standards degni del suo repertorio che faranno vibrare la schiena a più di un fan della prima ora. La politica sempre in primo piano, c'è la guerra in Iraq e la dissennata politica di Bush, insomma il vecchio menestrello canadese  non sembra voler smettere di graffiare.

Chrome Dreams II is a new NY's album.
The album is a sequel to Chrome Dreams, a legendary NY album from 1977 that had originally been scheduled for release but was shelved in favor of American Stars 'N Bars.
It was produced by Neil and Niko Bolas (aka The Volume Dealers), and features the ensemble of Crazy Horse drummer Ralph Molina, pedal steel guitarist and dobro player Ben Keith ("Harvest," "Comes A Time," "Harvest Moon") and bassist Rick Rosas ("Freedom," "Living With War,"
"This Note's For You"). The Blue Note Horns are on one track, "Ordinary People," and The Young People’s Chorus of New York City on "The Way."
Most of the recording was done live with few overdubs at Feelgood's Garage studio near Redwood City, California, with two vintage gas pumps out front and vintage studio gear inside.
