The documentary film directed by Julien Temple about Joe Strummer, the lead singer of the British punk rock band The Clash, that went on to win the British Independent Film Awards as Best British Documentary 2007. The film premiered 20 January 2007 at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival. It was also shown at the Dublin Film Festival on 24 February 2007. Joe Strummer obliterates the traditional soundtrack formula, turning the whole listening experience into an 80-minute radio show.

The story of founding guitarist Brian Jones’ , he drowned in the pool of his home on July 3, 1969, at the age of 27, just weeks after being ejected from the Stones. The music includes period-sounding music from the likes of Dick Taylor of the Pretty Things, who was briefly in the Stones in one of their earliest incarnations and songs that comment on Jones’s life, along with gritty contemporary rock that shows the estimable influence of the early Stones sound.
